27 Triple Draw is one of those games that most people have never heard of but it is growing in popularity so I expect that to change in the coming years. Ever since Pokerstars added 2-7 Triple Draw and 2-7 Single Draw to their game lineup there has been quite a bit of growth. Before I go any further I want to point out that this game is known by several different names and sometimes people can get a little mixed up. The most common name is 27 Triple Draw but below I have added some of the other commonly used names for this game.
We offer a wide selection of 27 Triple Draw articles ranging from rules to advanced strategy articles. I have added links to our articles below. Me and my buddy, who plays Triple Draw poker on a regular basis, wrote every article found on this site so you can be sure you are receiving sound strategic advice.

As mentioned above 27 Triple Draw is available at Pokerstars. There is a decent amount of players at the tables around the clock at a wide range of table stakes so finding some action shouldn't be a problem. You can also play it at Aced Poker. Both poker rooms are open to players from the U.S. and are very solid online poker rooms. It would be bad form if I didn't mention that the Triple Draw traffic at Aced Poker leaves a lot to be desired. They are however the only poker room to offer A5 Triple Draw, basically its 27 Triple Draw only the best hand is a wheel (A-5) and obviously straights and flushed don't count.

As you can see above the 27 Triple Draw tables at Pokerstars are far from dead. I just took that screen shot a moment ago and its still several hours away from the peak hours at Stars. Fixed Limit 27 Triple Draw is the most popular game played and the stakes at the active tables range from micro to high so you won't have to wait long for a game regardless of the stakes you like to play.
27 Triple Draw is one of only poker games that is more common in casinos and brick and mortar poker rooms than in online poker rooms. Its a variation from on the once popular game called "Double Draw Poker" or the single draw version known as Kansas City Lowball. 27 Single Draw has been an event at the World Series of Poker for many years. It wasn't until 2004 that the first 27 Triple Draw tournament was added to the schedule. Barry Greenstein, one of the most notable poker players in the world won the event at the World Series of Poker* and took home $296,200.
What strikes me as odd is that in the WSOP 27 Single Draw tournaments are much more common than the triple draw variation. I just logged into Pokerstars and there is well over 100 Triple Draw players at the real money tables. I checked out the Single Draw tables and there was only 1 active table with 7 players. I think its only a matter of time before the WSOP catches on to which game players prefer. Don't get me wrong though, the single draw tournaments have been extremely popular and attract a lot of professional players. Since the WSOP has grown vastly from the online poker boom and satellite tournaments from rooms like Pokerstars I would assume they are well aware of the demand for more triple draw action and will add more tournaments to their lineup in the coming years.
2009 will mark a major accomplishment for 27 Lowball. There will be a "Championship" event at the WSOP for the first time. Its a 27 Single Draw event but the typical triple draw player also enjoys single draw just as much. There will be a Triple Draw tournament though. Event 55 will be in fixed limit format and have a $2,500 buy-in.
I expect the traffic at online 27 Triple Draw tables to grow considerably in the next few years. Pokerstar's amazing growth will be the main contributing factor in this. A couple years ago it was a big thing to see over 100,000 players logged in during the busy hours. In the beginning of 2009 Pokerstar's topped over 250,000 players logged in at the same time. Pokerstars includes 27 Triple Draw in their major online tournament Championships. The Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) help in April will include one of the largest 2-7 Triple Draw tournaments ever played online. They have guaranteed the prize pool the be at least $200,000 and I'm seriously expecting a huge overlay.
Another reason to thank Pokerstars for bringing 27 Triple Draw more into the spotlight is their addition of the mixed poker game known as "8-Game Mix" (THORSEHA). The first game in the lineup is fixed limit 27 Triple Draw. 8 Game poker has grown to be the #2 mixed poker game played online, 2nd only to Pokerstars. This game is very popular amongst the mixed game crowd and due to the addictive nature and soft competition of 27 Triple Draw this awareness of the game and the need to improve at it has caused considerable growth recently.
